Welcoming letter and call for papers from the Coordinator Team
We have met in Madrid to prepare the next meeting of the Jesuits in Science, Malaga, September 5-9, 2001. We recalled the last European meetings and felt that the European Jesuits in Science want to produce, in an effective way, something that has a value for the Society of Jesus.
In order to pursue this goal, we propose that young and “not so young” European Jesuits work together in Malaga trying to find a common vision to offer to the Society. We will proceed, helped by a team, in praying, sharing in small and large groups, listening to each other, enjoying our togetherness, and looking constructively together to the future.
We encourage all the European Jesuits in Science to participate in the meeting. Each one could send a short communication before August 15th that would help for our sharing. The themes of these communications would be answers to one of these questions:
- How do you think that your work is related to the mission of the Society in regards to CG 34? (2 answers and one reflection)
- What are your own experiences and feelings about your work and life in the Society? (2 answers)
- What is the link between your work and your life as a Jesuit-in-Science? (3 answers)
- Would you like to comment on both the strengths and weaknesses of the Mission Statement written for the whole Society by the Jesuits gathered at Chennai, India?(3 answers and one historical reflection)
Yours in Christ,
Thibaud d’Oultremont, S.J.
Pedro Tejedor, S.J.
