Memorandum of Understanding to guide
Governance of the International Jesuit Association of Chemistry and
Chemical Engineering Universities and Schools (ISJACHEM)
Mission and Vision
The mission of the ISJACHEM is to enhance knowledge among
the Departments of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the
Universities and High Technical Schools of the Jesuits, and to increase
collaboration in all fields in order to improve our preparation of
professionals in chemistry.
Our vision is a network of institutions committed to
education in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering that is designed to
prepare men and women for the world with humane, social spiritual, and
moral perspectives according to Jesuit Universities. We will also
emphasise pastoral attention to the students and to the different
groups of people with which we work.
Fourfold Goals
- through every means of cooperation, we desire to serve
better our students, faculty, and other constituents as we do our work
as educators in the field of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering within
the context of Ignatian education.
- to develop and promote the concept of Chemistry and
Chemical Engineering as professions and vocations in our various
societies and countries.
- in solidarity with each other, as well as with the poor, we
will work to prepare young men and women who are committed to the
development of the Third World countries, as well as to those who are
marginalised in the First World. Through education in Chemistry and
Chemical Engineering, it is our goal to serve justice and to take care
of the environment, by the work of our students and ourselves.
- to support and facilitate the on-going professional
development and education of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
professionals, faculty, and others, with respect to the specific nature
of our knowledge of Chemistry in the context of Christian Social
Thought and Ignatian education.
